Zulu Nyala primarily markets their photo safaris through charitable auctions in English-speaking countries. Itâs a private game preserve with 1000âs of acres dedicated to maintaining sustainable habitats for native species. Their accommodations and food were first rate. The twice-daily excursions into the wild were thrilling, fun, and informative. There are different levels of lodging but we really enjoyed the Hemingway Tent Camp area. All is within a short walking distance through magnificent garden grounds. This is a âbucket listâ experience I would do again in a heartbeat. Our guide James Tembe (descendant of a Zulu chief) was just superb. Thank you, everybody on the staff. You were all SO kind and helpful. ÂTrip of a Lifetime, Best Safari Experience, Best Resort Experience!
Â
Amazing safari experience and the customer service and family feel was exceptional. Every photo safari drive was better than the last, each was different and our guide Musa was beyond amazing. The smaller reserve was ideal as we saw all the amazing animals up close. Our video of Elephant Rhino stand-offs, elusive Leopard photo hunt and water buffalo fights were epic! We took a day trip to a larger reserve and that was disappointing as the animals were so far away. Zulu staff treats you like family and takes care of your every need. Myself and my 20 and 21 year old hopped out of bed each day (not normal) to attend our morning drive. No one wanted to miss out! I received this through an auction. I did not know how this would compare to other safaris or if I needed to make additional safari reservations. Zulu exceeded our expectations and I especially appreciated their dedication to the protection of the animals, especially the Rhino. Our group from our jeep became fast friends, eating together and re-living our amazing safari experiences. Great food, accommodations, bar, staff and friends. If I return to South Africa, I will return to Zulu Nyala!
âYou might want to stay foreverâ
The people, the facilities, the food and the adventure at Zulu Nyala Game Lodge is something that everyone should consider experiencing. Our guide, Sandiso, was not only great at âfindingâ beautiful animals, but was so informative about everything in the reserve! Markosi was a delight waiting on us for most of our meals, and the food was fantastic. A wonderful place and adventure, I would urge anyone to go!!!
âExceeded our greatest expectationsâ
We purchased the Zulu Nyala vacation from a charity auction, as most of the guests at the lodge do. The purchase opened up an adventure we would never have had if not for the auction. Our room was large and very comfortable. We didnât spend a lot of time it though as our guide kept us very busy with the two game drives and the other opportunities. The Zulu Nyala game preserve provides an incredible experience of seeing the amazing animals up close. Our guide, Welcome, was wonderful and we think we had the best guide there was. Everyone thinks that about their guide at Zulu Nyala! The food was plentiful with plenty of delicious variety. Our vacation to South Africa was better than we ever could have imagined it would be. The optional activities we chose were Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve, Elephant Interaction and Cheetah Rehabilitation. Each experience was magical. We regretted that we missed St. Lucia wetlands outing; but we were very pleased with the whole experience provided by our Zulu Nyala adventure.
âA great first safariâ
When I attended a gala dinner celebrating the hundredth anniversary of the girl scouts the furthest thing from my mind was ending up on safari in South Africa. But there on the silent auction table sat an opportunity for adventure and somehow my daughter talked me into placing a bid. The result was serendipitous. We had a fantastic time.
âDonât miss this opportunityâ
We learned about this lodge through a local charity auction. On our visit we met several other guests who also were happy winners of local auctions. If you get a chance to bid on a visit to this place: âDonât miss the opportunity!â Accommodations were first rate. The occasional Nyala browsing near the pool makes a great photo op. The Safari guides were skilled at providing all of us a great safari experience.
âWe stayed at Zulu Nyala from a charity purchase, not knowing what to expect. But they exceeded our expectations with great customer service, accommodations, food and safari guides.â
âAs with most, we bought this 6 night safari at an auction. It turned into a 15 day trip to S. Africa starting at Durban and the Fairmont Zimbali Resort and ending at the Steenberg Hotel and Winery outside Cape Town. It will be one of the more memorable experiences of my lifetime!â

âWe also bought the trip through a charity fundraiser (my sororityâs alumnae chapter). If you see it offered â buy it!â
âWe got this adventure like most we talked to -through an auction. So glad we did.â
âIf you are reading this after you spent the money at the auction give yourself a pat on the back for being charitable and for making a wise decision!â
